I know, I know. It's weird
I haven't had any coffee in 48 hours. After the initial mind-numbing withdrawal headache subsided, I'm feeling, well, not so drowsy all the time. Odd.

Also - make sure you're properly hydrated, drinking lots of water can help. I learned that by over-drinking coffee during long 12 hour nights shifts for three months last hurricane season - water kept me MUCH more awake.
A great coffee alternative too - yerba mate. I LOVE this tea, I have been drinking it for 5 years. It gives you a much better alertness than coffee, without being all ancy or jittery. Check it out. I have a post about this on my other blog - Gluten Free in DC. Check www.glutenfreeindc.com and scroll down to May's entries.
Or, you can check it out on the DC Food website I contribute to - http://dcfud.smorgasblog.com/archives/2006_05.html

Green tea is also a great way to get your daily caffeine quota without getting all of the bad stuff in coffee. Plus, green tea has a ton of antioxidants.

Thank you, my healthy friends. I'm glad to know I have all these beautiful women looking out for my well being. Still coffee-free.
